Orlando, Florida (10/12/2023) Bliss Health is the first medical center to receive the designation of a B Corp Certification in the state of Florida. B Corp Certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials. In order to achieve certification, a company must:
- Demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and passing our risk review. Multinational corporations must also meet baseline requirement standards.
- Make a legal commitment by changing their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders, and achieve benefit corporation status if available in their jurisdiction.
- Exhibit transparency by allowing information about their performance measured against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
BLISS Health is a medical center, based in Orlando, specializing in Sexual Health that offer a very ambitious and forward-thinking services that cover all sexual needs, from HIV and STD testing, treatment, and prevention (use of PrEP), to mental health, including financial aid for those in need. Dr. Ortiz believes the stigma around HIV (and STDs) is one of the biggest challenges that continue triggering new infections. This stigma is something Dr. Ortiz works tirelessly to diminish, not only in his clinic but globally.
As the primary investigator in all clinical trials at BLISS Health, Dr. Ortiz is very active in research focusing on medical intervention and social issues. He’s certified as an HIV Specialist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) and serves as a consultant to Bristol-Myers Squibb, Gilead, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Tibotec, and ViiV Pharmaceuticals.
